Tamale PieRecipe from Juanita (Voyager list) Submitted by Merlin 6 cups boiling water 2 cups cornmeal 2 tbl cooking fat 1 pound hamburger 1 chopped onion 1 chopped green pepper 2 cups canned tomatoes w/juice 1 can drained corn 1 Tblsp red chili powder, (I use 5 Tblsp or more--hot if you like it). 1/2 tsp oregano 1 can black olives, drained 2 cloves of minced garlic salt and pepper to taste Sift cornmeal slowly into rapidly boiling saltedwater, stirring constantly, for 15 minutes. Brown hamburger, garlic, onion, and green pepperin hot fat. Add tomatoes, corn, chili powder, salt, pepper, and oregano. Simmer10 minutes. Fill well-oiled baking pan with one layer ofcornmeal mush, then a layer of meat mixture, and a top layer of cornmeal, andpush in olives on top. Bake in 400 degree oven for 30 minutes. Serve HOT! (With Tecate Lager Beer, Lime and Salton top).
