Shoo-Fly Pie

1 1/3 Cup Sifted flour
3/4 Cup packed Dark Brown Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/3 Cup Margarine
1/3 Cup hot water
1/3 Cup Dark Corn Syrup
1 unbaked 9 inch pastry shell
1/4 Teaspoon ground cinnamon
Sift flour, salt, and sugar together
Cut margarine in with previous ingredients until crumbly
Set aside
Stir soda in water, then stir in corn syrup
Pour mixture into pie shell
Then crumble other ingredients over top
Sprinkle with cinnamon
Bake at 400 degrees 15 minutes then 350 degrees for 30 minutes
My father copied this recipe on the back of of a note pad.
I have no idea where he found Shoo Fly Pie.
I think that the name may come from the fact that
who ever makes it would not want to share it with the flies.
