Frequently Asked Questions

The following could have been listed in the Articles of Interest pages, but they go around the list so often, we put them here instead!

What is the Roadhouse?

The Roadhouse started out as shadowsrc, a mailing list for riders of Honda Shadow motorcycles. It has evolved and changed its name. The Roadhouse is a place to go, have a virtual drink, chat with friends and talk about (nearly) anything. The one thing that keeps us together is our common interest in Shadows. You DON'T have to own a Shadow to join us; we just require that you have an interest in Shadows.

How do I join or leave the Roadhouse Mailing List?

There are two ways to join or leave the Roadhouse.  You can also perform other maintenance tasks to manage your subscription using either of the two methods.

Method 1 - via a web browser

Visit the list management web page at http://mail.shadowriders.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/roadhouse.  On this page you will find both a place to subscribe and a place to log in to manage your subscription.  Both are self-explanatory.

 Method 2 - via email

Send an email to
roadhouse-request@mail.shadowriders.org
with any of the following commands.

To subscribe to the Roadhouse:

subscribe [password] [digest|nodigest]

Subscribe to this mailing list. Your password must be given to
unsubscribe or change your options, but if you omit the password, one
will be generated for you. The system will automatically remind you of your
password every month.

The next argument may be either: `nodigest' or `digest' (no quotes!).
If you don't specify, "nodigest" will be assumed.

To Unsubscribe from the Roadhouse:

unsubscribe [password] [address=<address>]

Unsubscribe from the mailing list. If given, your password must match
your current password. If omitted, a confirmation email will be sent
to the unsubscribing address. If you wish to unsubscribe an address
other than the address you sent this request from, you may specify
`address=<address>' (no brackets around the email address, and no
quotes!)

Other commands:

help    Print this help message.

info     Get information about this mailing list.

lists      See a list of the public mailing lists on this GNU Mailman server.

password [<oldpassword> <newpassword>] [address=<address>]
Retrieve or change your password. With no arguments, this returns
your current password. With arguments <oldpassword> and <newpassword>
you can change your password.

If you're posting from an address other than your membership address,
specify your membership address with `address=<address>' (no brackets

around the email address, and no quotes!). Note that in this case the
response is always sent to the subscribed address.

set ...     Set or view your membership options.

Use `set help' (without the quotes) to get a more detailed list of the
options you can change.

Use `set show' (without the quotes) to view your current option
settings.
